Roosegaarde is designing and building the world’s first firefly garden in Bali. The connected nursery ensures a stable breeding programme to have a healthy swarm of fireflies and collect new scientific knowledge.

When you tell this story to local Balinese they get emotional, since fireflies were everywhere 20 years ago but not anymore.

A firefly wants to have clean air, clean water, clean soil, and no light pollution. So we see them as a gatekeeper for our better future.

The SMOG FREE RING is made from smog collected by the SMOG FREE TOWER. By sharing a SMOG FREE RING you donate a 1000 m3 of clean air.

SMOG FREE RING is used as engagement and wedding ring by couples all over the world, and part of the permanent art collection of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts USA, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, National Museum Zurich and The Biosphere Environment Museum in Montreal.

The city of Genk in Belgium has commissioned artist Daan Roosegaarde to design and build a public artwork at the industrial Thor Park by the summer of 2025. The artwork will become an embodiment of the power of nature, and supports the transition of the landscape from coal to renewable energy.

Our new Holocaust monument LEVENSLICHT is a collective experience of light and commemoration throughout the Netherlands. LEVENSLICHT will open January 16 in Rotterdam and travel to 170 municipalities with a Holocaust history in the Netherlands.
