An important inspiration for our new public artwork 'Sensor Valley' in Assen NL is project LOFAR. These 'eyes of the earth' are hundreds of sensors connected in an area of 100km scanning the universe to figure out the birth of planet Earth.
Marked by its longstanding history with respect to sensor technology, the city of Assen is surrounded by telescopes and space navigation satellites. The public artwork ‘Sensor Valley’ therefore focuses on using light and technology to personalize space; creating a lively landscape of people, sensor technology and light.
Here deputy mayor Maurice Hoogeveen and artist Daan Roosegaarde are inspecting the maquette of our new interactive artwork for the city of Assen NL. This landscape of interactive pillars of light and sound will be opened in 2012.
