BOO is an interactive installation composed of 6-meter-high pillars fitted with black rubber, LEDs, motion and touch sensors, and audio speakers. This innovative blend of Eastern influences and cutting-edge technology immerses students at the Hotelschool in a serene, mystical garden of light.

The pillars respond dynamically to visitors' movements, generating glowing green light and evolving cricket sounds. As visitors engage with BOO, the pillars become more active, communicating with each other and the people in the space, transforming the installation into a living, breathing environment where light and sound merge to create a harmonious atmosphere.

When unoccupied, BOO takes on a different character. The 'BOO' ghost, representing the installation's spirit, awakens and roams the zen garden. Enhanced cricket sounds and playful green lights encourage interaction, making BOO a dynamic and reflective experience.

BOO evolves with the presence and absence of people, inviting visitors to connect with the space, nature, and themselves in a peaceful, introspective setting.

2012. Pillars of 6 meters high, fitted with black rubber, LEDs, motion and touch sensors, and audio speakers.

BOO is commissioned by Hotelschool Amsterdam.
