Glowing bicycle path inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night.
The VAN GOGH PATH is made of thousands of twinkling stones that charge during the day and glow at night. Located where Van Gogh lived from 1883 to 1885 in the Netherlands, it celebrates this cultural heritage while connecting it with innovation.
VAN GOGH PATH, inspired by Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night, creates a place of wonder and inspiration while enhancing public safety and boosting local tourism.
VAN GOGH PATH is the world's most publicised bicycle path, and continues to attract visitors since its launch in 2012.
VAN GOGH PATH is a part of SMART HIGHWAY, which are interactive and sustainable roads of tomorrow by Daan Roosegaarde and Heijmans Infrastructure. Its goal is to make smart roads by using light, energy and information that interact with people.
VAN GOGH PATH and SMART HIGHWAY have won numerous prestigious awards, including Best Future Concept and the Dutch Design Award (NL), the Accenture Innovation Award (NL), and the INDEX Award (DM), celebrating its groundbreaking approach to sustainability and design.

This partnership is a true example of innovative industry, combining Studio Roosegaarde's design and interactivity with Heijmans' craftsmanship, all in pursuit of one common goal: innovation of the Dutch landscape.
