SMOG FREE RING
1000 m³ of clean air.
The SMOG FREE RING is crafted from smog collected by the SMOG FREE TOWER in cities like Beijing and Rotterdam. Each ring represents a donation of 1,000 m³ of clean air and has become a popular choice for engagement and wedding rings worldwide.
Funds raised through the Kickstarter campaign for the SMOG FREE RING helped develop additional smog-free solutions. Although the ring is now part of permanent museum collections and no longer available for individual purchase, new rings will be launched with future SMOG FREE TOWER campaigns.
The SMOG FREE PROJECT, led by Daan Roosegaarde, highlights the beauty of clean air through urban innovations. The SMOG FREE RING, made from compressed smog particles, serves as a tangible reminder of this initiative. By sharing a SMOG FREE RING, you donate 1,000 m³ of clean air to the city.
The ring is now part of permanent collections at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the Stedelijk Museum, and The Biosphere Environment Museum. It has also been featured in interviews with The New York Times and BBC World Radio.
The SMOG FREE RING has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the Grand Award for Sustainability, the Ethics Ethical Award 2019, the Design For Asia (Gold Award), the Design For Asia (Graphite Pencil), D&AD Impact, the Notable Design for Social Impact Award (Core77), the Platinum Award (A'Design Award), the German Design Award, and the Excellent Product Design Award in Germany.
